Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a persistent pain in my left temple for about a week. I can feel the vein near the temple throbbing, but the area is not sore or tender to touch. Ibuprofen works for a few hours. The headache will be there when I wake up in the morning and can linger all day. There tends to be a sharper, stabbing pain along with physical exertion. Any ideas? Is this a serious matter or just a tension headache?
Welcome at HCM I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns... What is ur age? For how long u have these symptoms? Any fever associated? Any history of vomiting? Any specific stimulus for pain like light or sound? Any other co morbidity? Any visual problem? What are exacerbating and relieving factors? Statistically speaking you are right it may be a tension headache but you should be examined and investigated first before any definitive diagnosis...in my opinion you should meet your doctor for proper consultation so that all organic causes can be excluded like temporal arteritis , sinusitis, myopia etc.... Meanwhile stay calm and you can use acetaminophen or ibuprofen to relieve pain ... Hope your query is addressed adequately Regards Dr saad sultan
