Hello,

I can't say for sure without examining you, but this might be a spasm or inflammation of the psoas muscle (psoas syndrome) which may be irritating the sciatic nerve.

Physical therapy exercises can help this, as can NSAIDS such as ibuprofen if you tolerate that and have no contraindications for taking it. If you take ibuprofen, be sure to have it after you have some food in your stomach.

I recommend you go in to see a doctor in person to confirm that this is psoas syndrome/sciatica rather than a strain of another muscle. Alternatively, if you can self-refer to physical therapy, you can kill 2 birds with one stone by having this evaluated in person, and getting the prescribed exercises at the same time.

There are exercises you can find for this on youtube, but it would be best to know definitively what you are dealing with first. If that is not possible, you can find exercises online that you can try if you put in the words psoas syndrome or sciatica.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
