What Causes Persistent Pain In The Chest After Having Bruised Ribs?
I have bruised ribs in my chest as a result o bad car accident 2 weeks ago. Instead of feeling better the pain now is worse. I have been taking otc pain mess but little seems to help. I am breathing normally and did have an X-ray and ct scan to my chest after accident. Is it normal for the pain to get worse after 2 weeks? Alexander YYYY@YYYY
Hello, If you had a traumatic injury, its never normal to have increased pain suddenly while recovering. Since you didn't specify the side of injury I'm speaking in general. Most commonly rib injury like fractures or blunt trauma damage the spleen which results in hemorrhage. If you had done a ct and an USG which was negative at that time and now its painful over the same area its advisable to go for a reevaluation and exclude any kind of internal hemorrhage or infected fluid accumulation in the peritoneum.
