What Causes Persistent Pain In The Fingers?

About a week ago and just yesterday again, for no reason the knuckle near my fingernail on the ring finger hurt. I looked at it and the knuckle was dislocated. I gently squeezed it and I heard the bones crunch, but it went back to the right place and no more pain. Very odd. Then about 5 days ago, I woke up because my thumb was really hurting me. It was about 1 1/2 the size of the other thumb, I could not bend it at all and it was very sensitive to touch. Now, it is not as painful and I can bend it some, yet not all the way. I am only 62. What do you think?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be an early sign of arthritis.
As a first line of management you can take analgesics like ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
