What Causes Persistent Pain In The Forearm And Index Finger?

I was diagnosed with shingles on June 9th, 2017. SHINGLES located on left forearm just b slow the elbow. My doctor put me on VALACYCLOVIR, 1MG tablet, taking 1 tablet three times a day. Breakout never occurred but extreme pain and sensitivity to air conditioning, etc has traveled down to my left index finger. Pain in both places is still extremely painful. My doctor ( a different doctor that diagnosed SHINGLES) told me to stop taking the MED. Pain is exactly the same and has NOT ABATED since initial diagnosis, Ane no breakouts. What should I do now. (I can only wear sleeveless shirts and wear a tank to to bed). ,

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Usually Shingles are very painful and it is recommended to complete the course of medicine. If the pain becomes unbearable, taking some analgesics or applying some analgesic ointment sometimes gives relief. However if the pain is radiating to the fingers, it is wise to rule out any nerve involvement.
