Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Pain In The Lower Left Abdomen?
I have low pelvic pain on my left side. I m almost 51 and went into menopause at age 48. The pain sometimes feels like a burning sensation, feels heavy and I feel slightly bloated in my lower abdomen. I was thinking maybe something is wrong in my colon as I have IBS. I can sometimes feel pain just before a bowel movement and/or going pee. It s happened in the past and my doctor ruled out bowel issues with some blood tests, but I m not convinced as it s months later and has been an issue for the past 4-5 days consistently. I also have low back pain as well. Last night at 4:30 am I got up and put Blue Stop (biofreeze) in my back and front over the area of pain, took Tylenol and went back to bed. Rest helps. When I do a lot of walking or standing it makes the pain consistent and worse. Any thoughts? YYYY@YYYY
I think you should go to Primary doctor to get further work up. The pain might not be due to a GI problem but other problems should be ruled out like a urinary tract infraction. By doing some lab work like a urinary analysis and complete blood work up, it will help us to broaden search to rule out the source of your pain. The primary doctor may also be able to provide you with medication to help ease your pain. I hope I have answered your question. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
