What Causes Persistent Pain In The Lower Right Abdomen After An Appendectomy?

I have been having ongoing lower right abdominal pains since January of this year. I have been to the er about 4 different times, I was told my appendix was inflamed but due to me not having enough body fat they couldn t see much more. I had a laproscopic appendectomy the end of April, the pain lessened once healed but I was still having mild pain, now as of about 2 months ago the pain has become more severe, nobody is able to tell me what is going on. I am lost as to what should be done, I have seen about every type of doctor I can, with no help.

Hello,

Post-surgical pain can be due to 2 reasons
1. infection which can be reduced with antibiotics course
2. adhesions (tissues getting stuck)-which can lead to wound pain.

I suggest you take simple medications like
-paracetamol
-myoril

Hot and ice packs on the abdomen for external relief. If these cant reduce. Kindly visit the surgeon to start on suitable antibiotics or please visit pain specialist to give you nerve block called TAP block under ultrasound guidance which I personally did this on my patient suffering from the same pain and had very good relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anusha Molugu,
