What Causes Persistent Pain In The Right Hip Joint?

My right hip joint has been hurting. Upon rising after sitting for a spell I hobble because of the pain. WIthin the last two weeks my right ankle has swollen. I ve been wearing a knee brace during the day and compression socks when I sleep at night. My right knee has also been hurting sporadically. Sometimes it begins to give out a bit when I walk or maneuver stairs. I m vacationing in a week and have begun to think I need to contact my doctor to advise me. What would you advise?
