Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Pain In Thigh And Shoulder?
I have persistent atrophy in my left thigh. I had arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus. The damage was too great to repair so the damage was cut out. Since then I have suffered with unending pain in my knee and back. Pain in my left thigh and shoulder has gone from annoying to extremely painful. I ve seen a neurologist, a rheumatologist, and pain management specialists. No one can diagnose why I have persistent, spreading pain and atrophy. What are your thoughts?
You have history of atrophy in the left leg and arthroscopic surgery. Persistent pain in the thigh may be indicative of Sciatica, PAD, rotator cuff tear or tendinitis, frozen shoulder, etc. Atrophy is commonly indicative of peripheral neuropathy or muscular dystrophy. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a Neurologist. Get all Nerve conduction tests done, nerve and muscle biopsy and imaging tests done.
You will be treated with medicines, therapy (physical, respiratory, occupational therapy), or surgery (corrective surgery) if required. In the meantime take vitamin B6, B12 rich food or supplements. For relieve from pain you can take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
