What Causes Persistent Pain In Upper Thigh Muscle?

I did the splits 3 months ago and I pulled my upper thigh muscle I believe it was a grade 2 because it hurt to walk but it was not excruciating pain. I can t stretch as far as I used to because it hurts. Shouldn t I at least be healed? Especially when it s been 3 months going on 4.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In my experience i would definitely suggest you to rest properly, and to not return to your previous form of exercise, as severe form of muscle pull can even take 6 months of recovery time. You should continue to ice your thigh for 15-20 minutes at a time, keep your legs elevated when sitting or resting, use bandages to compress your thighs to prevent swelling, exercise a little bit ever day but nothing too vigorous.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
