What Causes Persistent Ringing In Ears Along With Vertigo?

Hi I am suffering from vertigo, from an ear problem. I experience ringing, swishing n my ear. I was treated with antibiotics cephalexin 2000 mg a day & was good for a year. I experience this problem agàin & was treated with the same antibiotic but did get that much better. I also experience vertigo, should I go back to the MD & request a stronger antibiotic? Or go c an ear specialist? I don't have health insurance.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering for vertigo and persistent ringing . Well there can be many reasons for vertigo and persistent ringing like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection, head injury , certain medications and due to cervical spondylosis, meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis ,multiple sclerosis and migraines . But in your case the problem seems to be related with ear . So i would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI , blood test , audiometery test, rotatory chair test , hearing test , examination with otoscope and ECG to confirm the diagnosis.Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , sedatives , stronger antibiotics , supplement like ginkgo biloba and recommend balance therapy , vestibular therapy or physiotherapy . For now do not bend forward and drink green tea with ginger thrice a day .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
