What Causes Persistent Running Nose Along With Wheezing And Cough?

went to eye doc last week because of pressure over my left eye. eye was fine. since monday my nose has been running like a tap, i am wheezing, coughing and have monster sneezes every two hours or so. Decongestant (afrin 12 hour) used once per day worked first two days and now is not working at all. Do I need antibiotics—the wheezing is scary, the cough is deep, painful and rumbley. The nose running non-stop is miserable and mortifying.

Hello,

I think you are having bacterial pneumonia. Should get a good physical examination together with an x-ray of the chest.

If confirmed antibiotic should be started.

Need to take antihistamine medication, mucolytic; apply vapour rub at night, apply nasal decongestant.

Sinusitis should consider and ruled out by x-ray of sinuses.

Discuss this further with your caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
