What Causes Persistent Severe Pain In Hip And Pelvic Area?
for the past several months I have had terrible pain from sitting to standing. It takes me several seconds before I can stand freely without holding onto something and when I begin to walk I have severe pain in my hips and pelvic areas. Do I have arthritis in my hips?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to osteoarthritis of hip. A consultation with an orthopedician followed by X ray of hip joint will be helpful to rule out the condition. Treatment depends on the stage of arthritis. If it is stage 2 or 3 then conservative treatment like NSAIDs, corticosteroid injections, viscosupplement like hyaluronic acid injections intra articularly will be helpful. If there is severe joint space narrowing as in 4th stage then surgical treatment like joint replacement will be needed to restore your joint function properly. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
