What Causes Persistent Sore Throat And Spots On The Back Of The Throat?

I have had a sore throat for a month now..I went to the doctor they prescribe amoxicillin for 10 days..they said I had an ear infection and a throat infection..took the meds and dont feel any better..I went back yesterday and they said since the meds didnt work that it must be a virus..I have different looking stuff in my tonsil area and clear spots on the back of my throat and sides..they never did a culture either time..I really feel as if this could be something more serious..no tests no blood work. any suggetions..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

I share your concerns. I think you should request your doctor for swab/sputum culture and sensitivity for antibiotics. As you have this problem for a month now, your doctor will accept your request. Or else you can try different antibiotic(levofloxacin 500mg once a day for a week) as bacteria may be unresponsive to amocacillin.

Meanwhile eat balanced food like vitamins and minerals to improve your immunity.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write for follow up queries. I wish you good health. Kindly hit a thanks. Thank you
