What Causes Persistent Soreness, Hoarseness And Dryness In Throat?
For nearly two weeks now I get hoarse and croacky and my throat feels dry each evening around 9pm. It started one night with a tickle in the throat and within an hour I had lost my voice and had a sore throat for a day or two but now every night it goes again. Any thoughts?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent soreness, hoarseness and dryness in throat which are pointing towards upper respiratory tract infection , which can be caused by bacterial or viral infection. It could be due to laryngitis which leads to inflammation of vocal cards. Apply warm compresses on neck . You should take steam inhalation along with vaporizers. Avoid hot, sharp, spicy food. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like viral culture test , throat swab test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out causes. You should go for get laryngoscopy as well. Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial amoxicillin or anti viral acyclovir depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants . Doctor may also go for tonsillectomy in case of tonsillitis. For now continue doing gargles and drink one spoon of honey mix with glass of lukewarm water.
