Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Soreness, Tightness And Clogged Ears?
I ve had sore ears months, no ear infections though. My ears feel tight, A LOT of pressure in them and hearing becomes muffled. Doctor said my eustachian tubes could be blocked and to take sinus tablets/nasal spray, this made no difference. I have also always had very smelly breath and have recently noticed that when my ears are really sore my breath smells more. Should I see an ENT?
As per your query the water clogged ears is a very common condition. Your doctor prescribed you right medicines to prevent the occurrence of any infection, so continue them as per prescription. I would suggest you to keep warm compresses on your ear 2-3 times a day, use mixture of alcohol and distal water in equal quantity as a ear drops twice a day alcohol will help in evaporate water (do not do this procedure if you had previous ear surgery or punctured ear drum), blow you ear with hair dryer with lowest heat and by keeping it foot long distance from ear lobe and chewing a gum will also be helpful.
If the condition persist for more the 2-3 days consult ENT specialist (ear, nose, throat) again, who can perform other procedures to drain a liquid.
Hope your concern had been resolved. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
