What Causes Persistent Throat Congestion And Cough?
For almost 10years I have been feeling something like flem on my throat, which is making me to cough most times. I seen my GP several times, the medication didn t work.I need to see a specialist, because is becoming unbearable. Please I need your help, thank you

Hi Dear ,
As per your query you have persistent throat congestion and cough and feeling of phlegm in throat . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query likr sore throat ( viral or bacterial ) , post nasal drip , sinusitis , granular pharyngitis and acid reflux . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day , keep your head elevated while sleeping , avoid eating spicy and heavy food , reduce intake of dairy products and avoid smoking . Consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like swab test , viral culture test , CT scan and physical examination with laryngoscope . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or anti viral depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants , diphenhydramine and expectorants .
