What Causes Persistent Tooth Ache And Headaches Post A Root Canal Treatment?
Hi- I had a root canal on Monday (back molar on the left), today is Thursday and I am still feeling a lot of pain around the tooth, headaches, and today my lip, on the same side as my tooth, is numbing. I was prescribed T3's but they don't seem effective.
As per your complain it seems that there infection in your tooth has not yet subsided and due to it there is radiating pain in head.. Secondly numbing of lip is due to compression of nerve fibres caused by the pys that is formed below the root tips of tooth post infection.. I would suggest you to consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation investigation like x ray can help.. You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and also stronger painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac.. In case if still there is no improvement then Re- Root Canal Treatment will be done.. As for now take Ketorolac and do cool compression over the cheek...
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
