What Causes Persistent Vaginal Itching During Pregnancy?

Hi, so I am 30 weeks pregnant but I have also experienced this before, my vagina is intensely itchy and does not go away, between the lips as well as the clitorus, there is also little tiny pieces of toilet paper stuck , could that be the cause of irritation and making it itchy ? Once I wash and clean it is still pretty itchy and irritated but goes down?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The persistent itching may be due to yeast infection or allergic response to a chemical agent coming into contact with the area (eg soap, detergent from clothes etc)

If there is also a discharge then yeast infection is more likely.

If there is no discharge then it is likely due to irritation and applying a mild topical steroid cream to the area would help.

This cream would not have any effect on the baby.

I hope this helps
