Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Vomiting And Fever In A Child?
My 4 yr. Old has been vomiting for approximately 35 hrs, maybe every hour or so. Slight fever and she had ibuprofen about 12 hrs ago, and hasn t come back raging. Also used Ondansetron last afternoon and bedtime which held her through the night. Still cannot keep anything down, though today. Only wants small sips of 50/50 water and Pedialyte. How long should we allow to continue this way until we see a doctor?
If he has been vomiting for 35 hours and is still not improving, then he should be taken to the doctor.
But if he is taking food and does not look exhausted and vomiting is improving then you can give him more and more fluid and wait for things to settle.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
