Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
noticed considerable leg weakness over the last 6 months. not sure what cause can be. no pain, just weakness and seems to have progressed noticeably in the last 6 months. no issues with sciatica that I m aware of. can you tell me what other condition may be developing
Weakness of the lower limbs can be related to a number of different causes which would be need to be ruled out.
It can be related to: (1) abnormal nerve function in the lower back, these nerves supply the legs (2)anemia- low hemoglobin (3)autoimmune diseases (4)muscular dystrophy- a group of inherited conditions that can cause muscle weakness (5)thyroid disease (6)vitamin deficiency
It would be best to see your doctor for assessment. This would include history of all relevant symptoms , physical examination and blood tests such as complete blood count, thyroid function, ESR (inflammatory marker for any inflammation in the body), vitamin levels.
Imaging may also be needed of the spine
I hope this helps
