What Causes Persistent Wheezing Along With Metallic Taste In Mouth After Coughing?
I have been wheezing really bad, I m not asthmatic no hx of smoking or any other illnesses . I did have the flu really bad about a month ago which I was RX albuterol and I ve been using it quite frequently due to SOB and wheezing. I also have a metallic taste after I cough , should I be concerned??
First you have history of flu.Secondary to it bacterial infection can occur to respiratory tract.Pneumonia can be the cause if fever and chest pain also present. Chest x ray useful that might reveal consolidation.
Second you might have allergic bronchitis Like condition that can lead wheeze.chest x ray useful.in allergic condition CBC might reveal eosinophilia.
If you have fever and weight loss then TB also has to be ruled out by x ray and sputum examination.
If you ate chronic smoker then emphysema like condition also has to be ruled out.chest x ray useful.
To distinguish pneumonia like restrictive and emphysema like obstructive cause pulmonary function test by spirometry useful.
While acute wheezing you can take nebulization to relieve bronchospasm like with budesonide and levosalbutamol.
Meanwhile search for specific cause and treated accordingly.
