I have a whooshing in my right ear that can last from 10 minutes to all day, intermittently....have had this going on for about 2 months and have been given meds for ear infection and prednisone for water in inner ear. Just does not go away and I have tested some hearing loss in this ear ad well.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent whooshing sound in right ear which are probably due to a condition known as Meniere's disease which is a disorder of the inner ear and occurs due to abnormal volume or composition of fluid in the inner ear and leading to ringing sound in ears. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and to rule out other conditions like acoustic neuroma and inner ear infection . Doctor may order certain test to confirm diagnosis like Hearing tests, Videonystagmography and Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials testing . Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drugs , recommend hearing aid , vestibular nerve section procedure. Apply warm compresses on ear. You should avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
