What Causes Persistently Increasing Pain On Left Side Of The Body?
I have a pain in my left side that has gotten increasingly worse as the day has progressed. Felt like a pulled muscle when I got up, but now it hurts to even touch the area. I need to go to the bathroom but didn t know if I should take a stool softener or not to help things along with a pain like this. Never had this before. Thank you.
The pain site over left side of the body is very vital to understand the issue and possible differential diagnosis. The area if involves left kidney region as there is mentioning of need to use bathroom, the renal calculus or gravels in the kidney may be of vital consideration in this matter.
In either case, the primary care is that of analgesic injection or tablet for immediate pain relief. Once the amount of pain is subsided to good extent, visit your GP for primary evaluation of the systemic approach and get needed work up of ultrasound or X-ray for the final diagnosis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
