Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a virus cold with severe cough from Christmas to Feb 5th, and now all that have is intermittent cough with phlegm plugs (greenish-yellow). Recently I have had a severe persistent pain behind my shoulder blades and slightly to the left (heart side). It exists regardless of movement, and keeps me awake. It is severe, and frightens me at times. I wonder if it is pleurisy, or worse?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. The pain in the shoulders is likely to be due to a muscular pain. Most of the times such pains are related to a bad posture. Taking muscle relaxants will help you. I suggest, that you see a pulmonologist who can examine you, run a chest x-ray with some blood test to determine the actual cause so appropriate medication can be provided. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
