What Causes Petechia On Lower Extremities While On Imitrex?

I have recently noted, within the last 6 months or so, that I have petechiae on both lower extremities. I do not take any prescription meds other than Imitrex, prn for migratines, which is approximately 5-6 times per month. What could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would like to give some diagnosis first:
1. Complete Blood Tests including Platelet Count
2. Head CT
3. ECG

This can be caused due to an allergic reaction due to the drugs you used. But it may also be caused due to the platelet reduction which can be caused by drugs. So, I advised a Blood Test.
Till then, you should switch the medicine. I advise you this medicine:
- Combination of Aspirin/Butalbital/Caffeine
- Topiramate

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
