What Causes Petrol Smell Constantly?

I keep smelling petrol, I have about 3 hours a day when I don t smell petrol, I even get it if I have to get up in the night for a wee sometimes its that overpowering it takes my breath away, I have been to my doctors about it and he said it was tiredness and stress but its been over a year now, thank you
