What Causes Phantom Pain Post Appendectomy?

I just had my appendix removed on Tuesday evening and was discharged Wednesday morning. Everything went well for the first couple days after discharge. I have been trying to rest as much as I can before I start going back to lectures tomorrow morning. I finally had a bowel movement yesterday evening (even though it was diarrhea, it was at least something). But since yesterday morning I have been having right side abdominal pain and nausea just like before I had the appendectomy. Is this normal after the surgery to have the phantom pain or should I be concerned?

Welcome at HCM
I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.
It is normal to have a pain after the surgery . It is part of a normal healing. All you need is to stay calm and use painkillers which were prescribed by your surgeon.
Meanwhile stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve pain
Get well soon
Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask
Regards
