What Causes Phantom Smell While Having Mononucleosis And Chronic Sinusitis?

I was diagnosed with Chronic Mononucleosis bact in October 2010. Since then, it seemed to go away and has recently reactivated. I occasionally smell smoke, as if something is on fire, and recently ammonia and sometimes roses. I also have Chronic Sinusitis. Could either of these conditions cause me to have phantom smells?

Hello,

Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. Possible causes like atrophic rhinitis must be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
