What Causes Pharyngitis While Suffering From Streptococcus?

Hi Dr. Rynne,I am getting pharyngitis every 20 days from last 8 months. Last months after throat culture, they detected streptococcus and prescribed sephorex. However, it/pharyngitis has come back again. What could be the reason for getting it so often? What medicine should i take to break the cycle?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, there can be various reasons for the recurrent pharyngitis from streptococcus as:
- Low immunity
- Drug resistant bacteria
- Inadequate therapy in previous episode
- Another bacterial infection superimposed
- Systemic problems as diabetes or others

However, individual case needs a detailed evaluation for particular cause in regard to that.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
