Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 15 month old woke up this morning with what looked like a few pimples on her face. Now there is one on the back of her leg, her hand and her butt. Not a whole bunch...just single ones spread around. She is active, eating and no fever. Chickenpox?
Hello dear user of HCM! Welcome and thank you for sharing your concerns with us!
Have your baby had fevers or discomfort the latest past days? Yes, chickenpox is one of the most common conditions that affect babies of this age. It is caused by varicella virus. It would be better if you had uploaded some pictures of the skin lesions to let us understand more about it.
Anyway you may try some measures to treat it.
There is no need to use antibiotics for this condition. If your baby have itching you may use Menthol powder and any antihystaminic drug orally to keep the itching under control. Do not wash the face while the lesions are developing because it may cause scars.
If the situation is getting worse despite taking these measures please consult a dermatologist to see the problem closer!
Take care and I wish your baby will be fine! Best wishes! DR ERIOL.
