What Causes Pinching Feeling In Chest With Stomach Upset While On Hydrochlorothiazide Medication?

Hi...last night as I was sitting I experienced a pinching sharp feeling in my chest (mostly the right side) then my jaw started hurting (lower) and I sort of salivating a little (almost like it feels when you are experiencing stomach upset). I recently started taking a very low dosage of hydrochlorothiazide. I am going back to my doctor on the 12th to see how my potassium levels are. Should I be concerned or is this just a response to the new medication?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Any sharp pain in the chest has to be carefully addressed for coronary ischemia since it needs prompt management.I advise you to have a baseline ecg and 2 dimensional echo of your heart to detect any wall motion abnormalities.Serum potassium levels have to be checked as hydrochlorothiazide is known to lose potassium in urine.Potassium sparing diuretics like spironolactone will help to prevent potassium loss.Consult your cardiologist for further care.
Thank you
