What Causes Pinching Sensation In Lower Back And Tightness In Shoulder?
Today i got a pinching feeling in the middle of my lower back, right above my tail bone. Now i can t even stand up straight. Every time i try i get a tightening feeling up through my shoulder blades and still can t stand up. It hurts constantly even when laying down. What could this be?
You seem to be suffering from one of the following probably: 1) Lumbar disc prolapse 2) Lumbar spondylitis 3) Radiculopathy with severe muscle spasms
I recommend clinical examination, MRI spine, pain relieving medication like NSAIDs Ibuprofen or Naproxen along with a muscle relaxant like chlorzoxazone to be taken for 14 days. If your pain is very severe, you can start taking corticosteroid like Omnacortil for 1 week and then slowly tapering the dose without stopping it abruptly.
Once your pain subsides, you need to go for physical therapy to learn exercises that strengthen your back muscles and reduce pain. Gastric irritation due to above medication can be prevented by tab. Pantop before food. If your pain doesn't subside even after 10 days, kindly consult a neurologist or spine surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
The symptoms you are describing could be caused by a variety of conditions. One possible cause is a herniated disc in the lower back. A herniated disc occurs when the soft center of a spinal disc pushes through a crack in the tougher exterior. This can put pressure on nearby nerves, causing pain and other symptoms. The pinching sensation you are experiencing in your lower back could be a result of this pressure. The tightness in your shoulder blades could be due to muscle tension and compensatory movements to avoid aggravating the lower back pain.
Other possible causes of your symptoms include muscle strains or sprains, spinal stenosis, or degenerative disc disease. It is best to see a healthcare provider for an evaluation and proper diagnosis. Treatment options may include physical therapy, pain medications, or in some cases, surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
