What Causes Pink Discoloration With A Mark Of Blood In The Eye?

my college daughter went to a doctor today with severe pinkeye. they prescribed her tobramycin ophthalmic solution 5mg/ 1-2 drops every 4 hours . she went to a meeting this evening and was wiping it a ton to keep out the green goo as she puts it. when she left the meeting she noticed her eye looked like it was bleeding, with a circle of blood on the white part. does this warrant an emergency visit, or is she ok?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it is likely that she has suffered from conjunctivitis which can be bacterial or viral and is usually resolving condition with good prognosis.

She needs to have detailed ophthalmologist review and may need to continue antibiotics drops along with cold rinses. It's infective condition and spread should be cautioned in closed contacts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
