What Causes Pink Mucous Drainage From The Nostril Of A Toddler?
My two year old has pink mucous coming out of his left nostril. I don t think it s blood, and resembles a crayon but no crayon marks in his teeth at all. It has no smell to it but it feels like paste and is sticky. I don t know what it could be. He has had a cold for over a month but doctor won t prescribe anything for it as it is just a common cold.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It seems the child has nasal contant running nose which has damaged and inflamed the nasal mucosa, that's why the pink discharge. He needs medicines to control common cold the damaged nasal mucus membrane. Take him an ENT doctor for local and systemic check up followed by advise of suitable medication (anti-cold, antibiotic,anti-inflammatory) as per need.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
