What Causes Pink Vaginal Discharge After Intercourse?

I was abstinent from sex for 5 years and now in a relationship and just after the first time we have sex i developed a pink discharge that seems to be getting heavier. I am on antibiotics for a bad ear infection and am thinking if it is an infection the antibiotics will also help it. Is this a normal occurance after being abstinent for so long.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Gonorrhoea, chlamydia, and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) may cause unusual discharge, including pink bleeding. These infections may not cause any symptoms at first.

When symptoms are present, they can include:

bleeding with sexual intercourse, painful urination, pelvic pain or pressure, vaginal itching, spotting between periods.

Other possibilities like lochia, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or implantation bleed etc.

Please get vaginal swab culture and microscopy. Use cap. Doxy after a negative pregnancy test twice a day for five days.

If symptoms do not improve, please consult your gynaecologist she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
