What Causes Pinworms With Black Specks That Sink Into The Skin On Different Spots?

I have a SEVERE case of pinworms/threadworms (though they seem to be finally subsiding) and have noticed that in addition to being sprayed with the eggs, I am being sprayed/attacked with black specks. They land on my skin and vigorously attach and attempt to burrow. If I don t literally scrape them off fast enough, they will sink into my skin. I should mention that by severe I mean that they are under my skin, in eyelids, nose, toes, and even my tongue, in addition to the normal anus and vagina. I was wondering if you know what these specks are and why they are so vicious.

Hello,

It looks like you have chronic pin worm / thread worm problem. You have been neglecting treatment, untreated the pin worms / thread worms will spread from the anus into the vagina. They may affect the uterus, fallopian tubes etc. Numerous pin worms can cause abdominal pain. You are suggested to get urinalysis, stool test (both R/E & C/S) done. You will be treated with Albendazole / Mebendazole under a GP.

You can apply 1% hydrocortisone ointment after washing the anus & vagina & other area affected to reduce itching & discomfort. Wear cotton clothes. Take care of your hygiene. Since you have specks spreading under skin, eyelids, nose, tongue, toes & if you are sexually active with multiple partners, get STD tests done to be on the safer side. If tests are positive you will be treated with antivirals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
