Hello,
It is commonly caused due to high BP, abdominal trauma, when you are 35 plus in age or have some
amniotic sac problem. Smoking, taking cocaine, alcohol, smoking may trigger it.
Quit, if you have any such addictions. In
Placental Abruption the placenta starts to separate from the uterus much earlier than your baby is mature enough to get delivered.
You may have
light vaginal bleeding, back pain, the baby is not growing as fast as it should.
Yes, it needs serious attention. Do not do any heavy work, stay relaxed. Count the baby movements, if your baby is too sluggish you need to get immediately hospitalized since you are 37 weeks. Your baby's
heart rate needs to be monitored.
Before placental abruption gets severe your baby would need to be taken out by C-section if required. Your gynae may not take the risk of
vaginal delivery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
