Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a abdominal bruit, high blood pressure, and had a aorta ultrasound that showed plaque in blood vessel, I will be doing a stress test on Sept 9, should I be worried.I have a strong family history of heart disease and I am a 45 year old with past eating disorders issues.Recovery from anorexia for 7 years.
Plaque is due to accumulation of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood.
The ultrasound findings are suggestive of obstruction of the aorta apparently due to plaque formation. You need to consult your doctor for further tests such as lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, ECG and stress test.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammad Taher Ali
