Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pneumonia After An Endoscopic Procedure?
I went to the emergency room because food was lodged in my intestine. The doctors pushed it down via an endoscopic procedure. I went to a gastrologist and he ordered an endoscopic procedure w/dilation. Because of a cough, I went for a chest X-ray and have been diagnosed with pnumonia. Could this be due to. The anesthesia or aspiration?
Yes, possibility of aspiration pneumonia is more likely in your case. Aspiration pneumonia is very common after GI (gastrointestinal) scopy.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done the clinical examination and start appropriate treatment in the form of antibiotics, mucolytics and cough expectorants. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
