Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My name is Amelia. After my first chest x-ray, I was diagnosed with pneumonia. Received a round a Levaquin. Then after 2 weeks a second chest x-ray showed no change in my right lung. Then I had a chest c-scan. My primary doctor said that the scan showed my lung was not super clear from infection. Changes in the lung can t tell it is from infection or inflammation. The airway is not healed. She hoped it will go away. She recommended to have another c-scan in three mos. I told her I will see a pulmonologist rather than wait and see!.. She did not test me to check what type of infection caused the pneumonia. By the way, I have some pain on my affected lung. Thank you very much for the guidance and advice you can give me
You have given empirical treatment for pneumonia that is Levofloxacin. It can clear most of bacteria causing pneumonia especially pneumococcus. If you have no full clinical improvement than I suggest you investigate with sputum routine microscopic examination and culture.
You need to repeat your scan also. Sometime radiological improvement take a time. You can attach your reports to guide you further. You can Consult pulmonologist for detailed examination and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
