What Causes Pneumonitis And Pericarditis?

my daughter developed asthma at the age of 25 yrs old. Only thing she was allergic to as a child was feathers (found this out from her sleeping on feather pillow). when she turned 25, her husband moved her out of the city into the country and they bought chickens and this is when the asthma started. she has been on multiple medications for the last 13 yrs including steroids to improve breathing difficulties and seems to get sick with colds and asthma many times per year. she was recently hospitalized with chest pain and was diagnosed with pneumonitis and pericarditis. her pulmonoligist has not determined her problem, only to say what she has is RARE. She is 39 yrs old and is now on oxygen 5L at home without any answers. If any of you have any knowledge that could help us get to proper diagnosing and or treatment options, would be greatly appreciated.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi,

Since she is on oxygen and has been treated for pneumonia and pericarditis, I am sure she has undergone detail investigations. If you could upload the reports of certain investigations like CBC, sputum examination, chest X-ray, chest CT scan and echo, it will be easier to explain her condition. Simple asthma leading to being on domiciliary oxygen is not so common so there must be something more to her condition, but we need more information for that.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shashi Dangwal, Pulmonologist
