What Causes Poor Appetite And Blood In Vomit While Suffering From Cancer?
Hello. My mother was recently diagnosed with what is believed to be advanced pancreatic cancer. She is 92. she has lost a lot of weight and is 90lbs. She has a poor appetite and surgery is not an option. Today she has started vomittng. First clear and then green and then with blood. Does this mean she is in herr final stages of the disease? She has 25 hr care at home and Im wonderi.g is this time to contact hospice? She i not in pain or jaundiced. Thank you for.your feedback.
* As per my surgical experience, the vomiting of blood in a patient with advanced pancreas cancer indicate various possible issues as
- altered clotting parameters as liver dysfunction or platelet deficiency
- high BP in porto splenic system
- stress-induced stomach or duodenal ulcer bleeding
- a side effect of certain oral medications as blood thinners or else
Would like to discuss further the issue regarding cause and possible management as per your concern.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
