My husband is 1.5 years post stroke. He was diagnosed as having thicker than normal blood. Factor 8? He also has circulations issues such as cold hands and feet, loss of hair on lower legs, and Erectile Dysfunction. He is 51 years old, a moderate smoker, a very mild drinker (3-4 times per month-usually not in excess), he is 5 11, and weighs 200 lbs. His activity level is moderate. His mother had cervical cancer in her 40 s and passed away of congestive heart failure at 59. She was obese, a heavy drinker and a heavy smoker. His father passed away at 83 when his vascular system basically collapsed. Three months prior to his passing, he had a nosebleed which prompted us to take him to the hospital. They stated that his capillaries were collapsing. He also had Parkinson s disease for several years and was a moderate drinker. Nearly all of his first and second generation relatives died or had some form of cancer. Currently, he is experiencing an irregular heartbeat (which has never happened before) and had a bloody nose that we are unable to attribute to something else. He is on 81mg aspirin daily and a blood pressure medication that is used for reducing the stickiness of his platelets. His resting heart rate is around 83, is strong, but skips about 7 times per minute. We have checked it 7 times using four different methods (palpating, cell phone app, digital monitor, and listening with a stethoscope. His blood pressure is normal. He also has moderate indigestion but he often gets that and he has just recently eaten.
