Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take 6 mg lorazepam and 300 mg clozapine and 300 mg Effexor xr. I think it is the clozapine that lowers my long term memory like I hardly remember movies. The clozapine is the culprit because for 13 months I was on 300 mg clozapine no lorazepam and 200 mg sertraline no Effexor xr. My memory was just as bad as now. I also have been on clozapine a long time before that although I was on lorazepam with it. Who is the culprit? E-mail me at YYYY@YYYY
Lorazepam seems to be the culprit. Clozapine is an atypical antipsychotic drug commonly prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia. Its common side effects include hyperglycemia, hypercholesterolemia, weight gain, seizure and agranulocytosis.
It does not cause memory impairment. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine commonly used to treat anxiety disorders and seizure disorders. Its common side effects include day time drowsiness, muscle weakness, fatigue, loss of balance, tolerance, dependence and anterograde amnesia (loss of new memory).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
