What Causes Popping Sensation And Pressure In The Ear Post Head Injury?

A week ago, (while walking my dog) I slipped on the ice & fell. I hit the back of my head very hard. I did not require stitches, as (thanks to my hood) it was more of an abrasion than a laceration. I applied ice until the bleeding stopped and swelling reduced. I did not go to the doctor. For the past 2-3 days, I have very slight discomfort and pressure in my right ear, and it pops as if I have water in my ear. Maybe that s all it is, but the timing is coincidental. Would the pressure and popping in my ear possibly be related to hitting my head?

Hello,

Popping in the may be due to tinnitus or blowing of ears or tympanic membrane retraction etc.

Just check for an ear for tympanic membrane intact and eustachian tube blockage or hearing function.

Also possible that middle cranial fossa injuries preset like blood in the middle ear.

So consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
