Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am hoping for some advice re a possible blocked Eustachian tube for several months now. A test showed my hearing is normal, but I am experiencing periodic crackling in my right ear. When I blow my nose nothing is ever produced from the right nostril. I can t pop my right ear when holding nose and mouth and blowing out. I ve tried yawning, swallowing, chewing gum, non prescription decongestant nose drops. No significant ear problems or surgery. Hearing tester did say my ear canal looked narrower than normal. I had tonsils removed in childhood. I am 67.
Please check it out by tympanogram and pure tone audiometry for middle ear problems. If you got type b curve means fluid and canal block. Some times due to allergy or edema or tympanic membrane sclerosis may lead to lack of popping sound in your ears.
Avoid cool drinks and freeze water avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tablet Sinarest twice a day for five days. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu, Internal Medicine Specialist
