General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, it sounds like you injured one of the tendons in your ankle, possibly even tearing it if there is bruising that suggests a hematoma.

The initial treatment would be cold compresses, elevating the leg, wrapping the ankle, and rest, as well as taking antiinflammatories such as Ibuprofen.

If the pain is severe, you are unable to walk, or it is not getting better in a few days, you should probably have a doctor examine it to see if any other treatments, such as casting or physical therapy, are needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
