Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Positive HPT Result Post Cytotec Intake Followed By Heavy Bleeding?
I took cytotec because I had a missed miscarriage I thought I was 9 weeks but looks like the baby stopped growing at 5 weeks. After about 1 hour of taking the cytotec I have a lot of pain and bleeding with a lot of clots for 2 days then normal bleeding for about a week after that. I still feel pregnant and having dreams which I only do when I m pregnant so I took a test and it came back positive it s been 3 weeks since I took the Cytotec is that normal?
Usually if there are any retained bits of conception, HPT still shows positive. I recommend you to get an ultrasound done to confirm if abortion is complete or there are any retained bits. See a gynecologist if niys is remaining in the uterus, and for the removal by a procedure called dilatation and curettage by gynecologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sushma Dubbaka
