What Causes Post Nasal Drip After Cleaning The Tongue?
After brushing my teeth, I always brush my tongue to reduce the bacteria which causes bad breath. But lately, brushing my tongue induces sinus drainage to the point where I have to wipe and/or blow my nose before rinsing. This hasn t always happened after tooth/tongue brushing, so what could possibly be causing this now?
There is a possibility that you have some Infection or inflammation in your sinuses that gets triggered when you brush your tongue as the salivary glands might gets stimulated while brushing the tongue..
Also if during brushing the tongue you have gagging and the acid comes up then it can also cause excessive mucous formation..
So my advice is do not go too back over your tongue while cleaning your tongue.. You can also gargle with hydrogen peroxide solution in water to clean your tongue.. If the symptoms does not get better then you can once get sinus x ray done to check for sinus infection..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
